Who We Are
Girl Arise International is a Christian 501(c)(3) public charity expanding access to quality education for girls in underserved communities. Our work began in 2013 with grassroots, community-based programs in Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania. We were formally established as a U.S. nonprofit in 2025. Our programs are rooted in Mua Hills, Machakos County, Kenya.
Mission. We educate and equip girls in underserved communities, grounded in Christ-centered compassion and holistic support, so they can thrive and transform their families, communities, and nations.
Our faith shapes why we serve, not whom we serve. We welcome girls of all faiths and backgrounds, and our help never depends on religious belief or participation.

Funding Priorities
1. Sponsorships for this year’s 120 girls, 118 of whom still need a sponsor. $550 a year for primary day school, $900 for secondary day school, or $1,500 for secondary boarding. Funds go directly to schools and approved suppliers, or through a registered Kenyan partner.
2. Our first school, in Mua Hills. Land has been identified and is under review. Our first milestone is to complete the land acquisition and architectural drawings, the foundation for Phase 1 construction. Fundraising for the school begins now, so no money has been raised for it yet. Later gifts fund permits and the first classroom block, at an estimated $25,000 to $50,000 per classroom ($350,000 to $550,000 for the full school, for around 300 girls). A second school is planned for Turkana County.
What We Measure
We track eight measures in every program: enrollment, attendance, staying in school, progress and completion, learning, health and dignity, confidence and leadership, and family and community engagement.
A girl is counted as educated when she completes a full school year with our support and has documented attendance and progression.

How Gifts Are Handled
- A gift for a named fund, such as Sponsor a Girl or Build a School, is used for that fund.
- Every gift receives a receipt. For gifts of $250 or more, the receipt includes the written acknowledgment the IRS requires.
- If the school project cannot proceed, gifts for it are redirected, with notice to the donor, to scholarships and education programs for girls.
- We accept checks (payable to Girl Arise), stock, IRA charitable distributions, and employer matching gifts. Our Benevity registration is in progress.
- Available on request: our IRS determination letter, 2025 Form 990-N, 2025 financial summary, and 2025 program report.
