Sponsor a Girl
Keep one girl in school, from $550 a year.
For many girls, the only thing between school and staying home is money. This year, 118 of the 120 girls in our program are still waiting for a sponsor. A sponsorship pays for what one girl needs to attend:
- School fees
- A school uniform
- Books and school supplies
- Transport to and from school
- Health and hygiene support
Since 2013: 5,000 girls educated, 450 scholarships awarded, and 25 communities served across Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania.
“For the first time, I felt like my dream mattered to someone other than me.”

Build a School
Our own school, starting in Mua Hills.
Our largest project is to build two schools of our own, each for around 300 girls. The first will be in Mua Hills, Machakos County, where land has been identified and is under review. The second is planned for Turkana County, where we do not yet run a program. Nothing is built yet. Each school will be owned by Girl Arise and run by a local school board and qualified Kenyan educators.
Estimated cost: $350,000 to $550,000 for a full school, or $25,000 to $50,000 for one classroom. Our first milestone is to complete the land acquisition and architectural drawings, the foundation for Phase 1 construction. Fundraising for the school begins now, so no money has been raised for it yet. Later gifts will fund permits and the first classroom block.
“I imagined a place where girls don’t have to walk long distances, where no one is sent home for fees.”
Individuals, churches, businesses, and foundations can sponsor the school, with recognition such as:
- Name a classroom (estimated $25,000 to $50,000)
- Name the library and reading room
- Sponsor a desk, with a name plate
- Join the founding supporters wall
We agree recognition with each sponsor in advance. A gift for the school is used for the school project. If the project cannot proceed, we will tell you and redirect your gift to scholarships and girls’ education programs.

Questions Sponsors Ask
Good to know before you give.
Is my gift tax-deductible?
Yes. Girl Arise is a 501(c)(3) public charity, EIN 20-5859247, tax-exempt since June 6, 2025. Every gift receives a receipt, and for gifts of $250 or more the receipt includes the written acknowledgment the IRS requires.
Can I give online today?
Yes. Use the Give Securely Online button above, or send a pledge, or mail a check payable to Girl Arise to 3577 N Beltline Road, Suite 176, Irving, Texas 75062.
How much does sponsorship cost?
$550 a year for primary day school, $900 for secondary day school, and $1,500 for secondary boarding school. You can give monthly or yearly, and we ask for at least one school year.
How do I start a sponsorship?
Send a pledge with Sponsor a Girl selected, or ask us a question first. We will reply within 1 to 2 business days, match you with a girl, and send your welcome packet.
How are girls chosen?
We select girls based on need, vulnerability, academic potential, and community recommendations.
How is my gift used?
A gift for a named fund, such as Sponsor a Girl or Build a School, is used for that fund. A gift for Where Needed Most goes to the program with the greatest need. We pay funds directly to schools and approved suppliers, or through a registered Kenyan partner. How Your Gift Is Handled.
Is the school already built?
No. Nothing has been built yet. Land for the first school, in Mua Hills, Machakos County, has been identified and is under review. Our first milestone is to complete the land acquisition and architectural drawings. If the project cannot proceed, we will tell you and redirect your gift to scholarships and girls’ education programs.
Are the girls in these photos the girls you support?
The photos on this site are illustrative. To protect the girls we serve, we do not publish their full names or home locations, and we follow the child safeguarding policy our board adopted.
Can I give stock, an IRA distribution, or a matching gift?
Yes. We accept gifts of stock, IRA charitable distributions, and employer matching gifts. Our registration with Benevity is in progress. Contact us to arrange your gift.
